The short version
We've travelled close to 100,000 km to see each other. We've shirked work, fought like a bunch of cats, eaten more almond croissants than either of us will admit to, demolished more spicy buldak ramen than we could really handle, and survived some genuinely bad haircuts.
We've competed against each other — cricket teams pitted against cricket teams, Mortal Kombat rematches that never really end — been each other's best friends (boyfriend/girlfriend category), sat through movies in languages neither of us understands a word of, and sent each other more pictures of cats, dogs, and insects than either of us can count. It's funny how much we light up at the sight of each other.
Five years is, depending on the day, either a long time or no time at all. Long enough that we don't really remember who we were before the other one showed up; short enough that some of it still feels like last week.
All of which has led us here — to the conclusion that marriage is, on balance, a decent idea.
